Position: Behavioral Health Consultant
GVHC Location: Stanislaus County

Status: Full Time
Position Description: Responsible to the Behavioral Health Program Manager, the Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) will provide direct services to patients both through the integrated model as well as the specialty mental health model. The BHC will also assist in the management of the GVHC Behavioral Health Program, including supervising other BHC’s as delegated by the Medical Site Director (MSD). The BHC may work at multiple GVHC sites.
Qualifications & Requirements: Current practices and techniques in psychotherapeutic treatment. Current practices and techniques in the integrated model, including brief intervention and therapy. Community resources for children and their families, homeless, farmworkers, etc. Behavioral health problems and issues and their relationship to the development and operation of related programs and services. Federal, State and County laws or regulations applicable to providing behavioral health services. Principles, techniques, and practices of effective employee supervision, training and development. Requirements, administrative techniques, and record keeping necessary for securing, maintaining, and effective functioning of grant programs and contracts. FQHC regulations, especially billing eligibility, and BPHC Program expectations. Operating policies and general functions of other government agencies that provide behavioral health services. Budget development and expenditure control is highly desirable. Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in mental health program services preferred, including experience in a supervisory capacity is desirable. (Additional direct-related experience may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis.) Equivalent to graduation from an accredited institution with a Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or closely related field. MINIMUM QUALTIFICATIONS: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Marriage and Child Counselor (MFCC) or a Clinical Psychologist (Ph.D.), state of CA. Bilingual strongly preferred.
