Planada has two part-time positions
The Receptionist/Data Processing Clerk/Cashier is primarily responsible for keying into the computer information regarding patient accounts, diagnoses and treatments, which will then be translated into monthly billings for pay patients and third party payer, as well as various statistical and informational reports. The receptionist duties are shared and involve those tasks associated with efficient flow of patients, such as answering phones, making appointments, and registering and moving patients through the system. Although the Receptionist/Data Processing Clerk/Cashier is under the direct supervision of the Office Coordinator, the data processing duties and work are reviewed by the Patient Accounting Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following is used as a partial description and is not restrictive as to duties required)
1.Make necessary preparations to turn the computer on and off daily.
2.Responsible for opening and closing the clinic and setting the alarm as needed.
3.Registers and orients all new patients to clinic policies regarding services offered, appointment system, after hours coverage, collection policy, etc.
4.Enters all new patient registration information into the computer.
5.Reviews patient registration information (including pay/insurance status) at each visit, and makes necessary updates both in the chart and the computer.
6.Reviews patient pay status for indication of past due accounts at each visit, and researches and counsels patient as necessary.
7.Generates computer flow sheet for each patient visit and passes chart to nursing department when patient checks in.
8.Accepts flow sheet from patient at the end of the visit processes and codes each service rendered and advises patient of amount due, in accordance with collection policy.
9.Inputs all charges and adjustments on private pay and third party accounts daily.
10.Compiles and inputs over-the-counter payments from private pay in accordance with established procedures.
11.Researches and answers any questions/correspondence on a patient account in a timely and professional manner and with regard to patient confidentiality.
12.Answers all incoming calls by 3rd ring and distributes calls as appropriate, or takes concise messages and distributes them in a timely manner.
13.Make patient appointments for medical and nursing visits, as well as for in-house lab tests in accordance with established policies and procedures.
14.Carries out medical record functions as assigned, if appropriate.
15.Other duties as assigned. |

Training and Experience:
1.High school diploma.
2.Bilingual English/Spanish required.
3.Aptitude for detail and precision.
4.2-3 years experience in medical/data processing field preferred.
5.Available for on call duty.
6.Flexibility in work schedule.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds (on wheels).
2.Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff.
3.Must be able to have vision that is adequate to read memos, a computer screen, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.
4.Must have high manual dexterity.
5.Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouching, reaching, kneeling, twisting/turning, fingering and feeling.
