Position: EHR Medical Records Administrator

Position Description: Under general direction, plans, oversees, and implements the CVC EHR and medical records systems for ambulatory care services. May train medical records staff and back office staff; will perform compliance audits, and performs related work as required. • Plans, organizes, and oversees EHR and medical record keeping for the CVC; leads the formation of policies and procedures regarding content, processing, and confidentiality; participates in the development or evaluation of automated medical records and digital archiving systems; prepares summary reports from medical records. • Monitors medical records for compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations; ensures that medical records meet standards for reimbursement by third-party payers and for audits; responds to requests for release of confidential patient medical records in accordance with laws and regulations; • May plan, direct, and evaluate the work of the medical records staff; interviews and recommends staff to be hired; may counsel and discipline staff; trains new staff and updates staff on changes in regulations or policies; may enter, code, and prepare abstracts of medical information in absence of staff. • Prepares and conducts training sessions on medical records maintenance, processing, retention, and release for department clinicians and support staff, managed care network providers, and vendors such as transcription and copying services. • Determines vendor services needed for transcription and copying of records; monitors performance of contracted vendor services; and reviews costs of vendor services. • Attends training to maintain credential as a Registered Health Information Administrator or Registered Health Information Technician; and attends staff meetings as required. • Participates fully in QI activities towards a patient centered care environment. • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements: • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree; • One year of experience overseeing medical record systems as a Registered Health Information Administrator; and a current Registered Health Information Administrator credential issued by the American Health Information Management Association • Minimum one year of work experience, ideally in a health care setting; Ability to assume sole and independent responsibility for various assigned projects and tasks; • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to significant matters; Excellent problem solving and investigative skills; • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with people of different backgrounds; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; Ability to complete projects with tight deadlines and time constraints; Ability to work on several projects simultaneously; Strong analytical skills with the ability to focus on detail; • Skills necessary to obtain EHR -certified trainer-level knowledge and complete understanding of the latest version of the EHR application; Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Outlook, Excel, and Word, Powerpoint, Access, and Project andVisio; • Solid understanding of the implementation process and the various interdependencies between operations and technology both internal and external;
