NATIONAL HEALTH CENTER WEEK EVENTS

Children’s Health Day – Monday, August 8th, 2022NHCW Children's Day face painting

More than 55,000 children in the Central Valley get their primary health care from Golden Valley Health Centers (GVHC). The timing of National Health Center Weeks lends itself well to engaging the youngest members of our communities as they prepare to return to school.

To celebrate Children’s Health Day, GVHC hosted an event at our Merced campus. The event had a fun program for kids with games, entertainment, and community resources. Children were also able to receive their immunizations, sports physicals, and blood pressure and glucose health screenings were available for everyone.

If your child needs immunizations or a sports physical, please schedule an appointment through MyChart or call 866-682-4842

Healthcare For Homeless – Tuesday, August 9th, 2022

Golden Valley Health Centers (GVHC) provides healthcare to the communities we serve regardless of language, financial, or cultural barriers. Every year GVHC provides services to over 2,700 individuals experiencing homelessness each year.

For National Health Center Week, GVHC will be highlighting the amazing work done by our Street Medicine Team. In 2021 they connected 269 clients to wound care and provided over 3,000 hygiene kits to unsheltered individuals.

Patient Appreciation – Wednesday, August 10th, 2022

Golden Valley Health Centers’ board of directors must be comprised of at least 51% community members. Community board members are individuals who are patients of GVHC and live in the communities we serve, and are representative of the patients we serve in terms of demographics such as race, ethnicity, and gender. The model works because it ensures that our patients represent the needs and voices of the communities we serve.

As part of National Health Center Week, we are celebrating our patients and our community board members who keep GVHC accountable for meeting the needs of our communities.

Join us to celebrate patients and stakeholders in Manteca with a coffee hour with the Manteca Chamber of Commerce.

Golden Valley Health Centers is proud to have the support of our federal, state, and local elected officials, which are crucial to our success. Stakeholder Appreciation Day provides GVHC with an excellent opportunity to show our appreciation to our policymakers and showcase what we have accomplished thanks to their support.

Agricultural Worker Health Day – Friday, August 12th, 2022NHCW blood pressure

2022 marks the 60th anniversary of the passage of the Migrant Health Act, the landmark agreement that sowed the seeds for what would later become the Community Health Center Program. Golden Valley Health Centers (GVHC) was founded 50 years ago as a migrant health program that primarily served our agricultural workers. Today, GVHC serves over 25,000 agricultural workers in the Central Valley.

As part of National Health Center Week, GVHC is celebrating Agricultural Worker Health Day by conducting a day of service. GVHC Staff and community volunteers will be distributing culturally sensitive food to agricultural workers at Empire Migrant Housing. GVHC would like to thank Second Harvest Bank and Stanislaus Regional Housing Authority for their continued support.

Health Center Staff Appreciation Day

The incredible value Golden Valley Health Centers brings to our patients and communities is because of the diligent work of all of our staff. As part of National Health Centers Week, GVHC provided staff with an appreciation gift to thank them for their hard work and dedication to our patients.

We want to thank our National Health Centers Week 2022 sponsors: Golden Valley Health Centers Executive Leadership, Blue Shield of California, and Healthnet LLC.

Vaccination hubs are provided to the community to help keep children up-to-date with their age-appropriate and school mandated vaccines. On-time vaccination throughout childhood is essential and helps to prevent exposure to potentially life-threatening diseases.
