Medical Education

Golden Valley Health Centers values and promotes collaboration at all levels.

One of our primary objectives is to strengthen the healthcare workforce to continue caring for the growing needs of Central Valley residents. We believe that through health care training and career opportunities, those who wish to serve their community can find their place here.

We are proud of our educational partnerships, and the opportunities we make available to our healthcare providers. These critical partnerships support our efforts to reduce health disparities and increase health literacy among our patients and within our communities.

Growing a pipeline to healthcare careers through education is a core tenet of our center of excellence. GVHC is participating in the following programs, which are exclusively available only through arrangements directly with the linked educational institution.

GVHC Advanced Training Program

This program supports the transition from recent graduate to confident and competent health care provider. Available to newly-hired advanced practice providers (typically NP or PA) with less than one full year of experience (4-6 month onboarding program).

UC Merced Health Scholars program

Undergraduate student groups conduct research in collaboration with GVHC to learn about the delivery of quality healthcare.

These projects range from themes such as increasing vaccination rates, Medical Staff Shortage, community needs, etc. Golden Valley Health Centers offers up ideas regarding particular medical/health issues prevalent in Merced County that students can assist in solving (on paper).   Students in Lead PreHealth are some of UC Merced’s top prospects for Medical/Health Schools.

This series allows students to connect with area hospitals, clinics, providers, community health champions, and other similar representatives.
