As healthcare services for low-income populations face potential funding threats, causing patient concerns about continuity of care and affordability of treatment, Golden Valley Health Centers (GVHC) is expanding services.
GVHC West Modesto clinic, at 1114 6th street, in downtown Modesto now offers pharmacy services as an added convenience for many Modesto community members. Healthcare services are increasingly difficult to access and pharmacy services are no exception.
The national pharmacy chain, Rite Aid, filed for bankruptcy in recent months, announcing a wave of store closures nationwide. Peter Tawfik, Director of Pharmacy Services for GVHC, is encouraged that the health center is in a position to help, stating, “Several pharmacy locations in the area are closing, including two in Modesto and one in Merced. This is the perfect time for GVHC to add new pharmacy locations, expanding services to better support our patients’ needs. We want to ensure uninterrupted pharmacy services in the communities where we serve patients,” he added.
Golden Valley Health Centers has a pharmacy in Merced and another in Modesto. The pharmacies accept all insurance plans and honor prescriptions from providers outside of the GVHC network. Competitive pricing and a sliding fee are available. Prescription home delivery will be offered soon.
