The Boys and Girls Club of Merced County is designed to provide youth ages 6-18 a place to go after school. They give them the opportunity to engage in programs that help them achieve academic success, build a healthy lifestyle, and gain leadership skills that will help them in their community. Recently, the Boys and Girls Club of Merced County was in need of updated technology. These days almost everything requires online registration, so computers were needed at the Boys and Girls Club to provide technology to youth who don’t have access to it at home. They use technology to help build computer skills that can be applied to everyday life.
Golden Valley Health Centers stepped up and donated ten laptop computers and three iPads to the Boys and Girls Club of Merced County. The equipment was previously being used at the nonprofit health center, but it needed to be repurposed.
Over thirty percent of the youth don’t have access to technology at home. The Boys and Girls Club is able to provide that access in a safe environment.
