Flora R. Martinez Nursing Scholarship
Golden Valley Health Centers announced the application period for their annual nursing scholarship. Named after one of GVHC’s founders, the Flora R. Martinez nursing scholarship will be awarded to five nursing students who reside in the communities served by the health centers. Golden Valley Board Member, Tom Martinez, promised his mother he would continue to promote the organization when she passed away in 2014 after serving 43 years on its Board of Directors. “My mother believed in the mission of Golden Valley and gave decades of her life to ensure that everyone received the healthcare they needed,” said Martinez. “These scholarships are a true testimony to her legacy and what she stood for.” GVHC will be accepting applications between April 1 and April 30 from individuals enrolled in Registered Nurse (RN), Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) programs.
Applications will be reviewed by the non-profit’s volunteer board members and the awards will be announced by May 31. “Golden Valley Health Centers believes strongly in developing the healthcare workforce of the future. These scholarships demonstrate our commitment to cultivating that expertise from the talent found right here in our own backyard.” said Tony Weber, Golden Valley’s CEO.
