Golden Valley Health Centers hosted a walk-through tour with Rep. Josh Harder on Thursday December 16th, 2021 to talk about the important details of school-based healthcare centers with CEO Tony Weber and GVHC leaders.
Golden Valley Health Centers partners with school districts to provide health education, help students who do not have health insurance and offer services that support at-risk students. This is a very convenient option for many students and families.
“The center provides medical, dental, behavioral and mental healthcare to students and families at Hanshaw and feeder elementary schools,” said Yamilet Valladolid, GVHC’s director of government and community affairs.
GVHC plays a vital role in this community for school-based healthcare centers.
“My goal today was to ensure that Congressman Harder is able to see how important healthcare access is through the school-based health center lens,” Valladolid said.
Josh Harder said he has focused on the intersection between schools and health over the past year and wants to do more. He hopes that the budget will pass in January or February, allowing more funding for healthcare, including school-based health centers.
