Together Against the Flu-Vaccines Now Available

The Importance of Flu Vaccination for 2026–2027

At Golden Valley Health Centers, your health is our top priority. Because flu viruses change and vaccine protection decreases over time, it’s important to get your flu vaccine every year. The 2026–2027 flu vaccine can lower your risk of getting sick and reduce the severity of illness if you do get the flu. Vaccination may also help protect your friends, family, and community, especially those who are more likely to become seriously ill.

Schedule your flu shot through the MyChart app, or call or text us at (209) 722-GVHC (4842).

Why You Should Get a Flu Vaccine Every Year

The flu can make you very sick. A flu vaccine can lower your chance of getting the flu. If you still get sick, vaccination may help make your illness less severe.
The flu can interrupt your daily life. Getting sick may cause you to miss work, school, family time, and other important activities. Getting vaccinated is a quick and easy way to help you stay healthy and keep up with the things that matter most.
You may also help protect others. Getting vaccinated lowers your chance of catching the flu and may help protect people around you, including those who are more likely to become seriously ill.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Flu Vaccine

When is the best time to get a flu vaccine?

For most people, September and October are good times to get vaccinated. It’s best to receive your flu vaccine by the end of October. If you have not received it by then, you can still get vaccinated later in the season while flu viruses are circulating.

Are flu vaccines safe?

Yes. Flu vaccines have a strong safety record and are closely monitored. Side effects are usually mild and go away on their own within a few days.

Can I get the flu from a flu vaccine?

No. Flu vaccines cannot cause the flu.

Who should get a flu vaccine?

Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine each year, with rare exceptions. Vaccination is especially important for young children, adults 65 and older, pregnant people, and people with certain health conditions because they may be more likely to develop serious flu complications.
