Monoclonal Antibody Treatment Update 03-23-2021

Due to the recommendation from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Golden Valley Health Centers (GVHC) has placed our Bamlanivimab (BAM) Monoclonal Antibody Therapy on a temporary hold. Recently there have been federal concerns that the BAM therapy has decreased in clinical effectiveness against the new viral variants of COVID-19 that are currently circulating in the U.S.

Although GVHC has stopped the use of our BAM infusions there are alternative monoclonal antibody therapies that are still authorized for use against COVID-19. Currently GVHC is working with CDPH in order to secure the new preferred medication to treat COVID-19.

As the largest community health center in the Central Valley, we want to ensure we are offering our patients with the best care possible during this pandemic. At this time, we do not have a timeframe of when GVHC will resume providing infusion therapy, but we are working diligently on obtaining all necessary information in order to continue to provide this treatment to our communities.

We would like to thank you for your continued patience as well as remind you to please wear a mask, wash your hands, and continue to physical distance to avoid being exposed to COVID-19.

Please continue to follow us online at www.gvhc.org to learn more about COVID-19 as well as treatment options and vaccination efforts.
